I’m worried stiff about what’s going to happen today. I would really like to be playing a top side and that’s no offence meant to Watford supports reading this. We give away points easily against teams you expect to beat and this Coutinho rubbish must be having an effect on the rest of the squad.
Anyone believe he has a bad back? Anyone believe Van Dijk has a virus? Sanchez apparently has pulled a stomach muscle! Coincidence they all want to leave the clubs they are injured at?
Sometimes I feel they treat us like kids.
Liverpool will also be missing Lallana for two months, Sturridge has another injury and you just sense it doesn’t bode well.
We have the upper hand here though as Liverpool have won the last 3 games against Watford and we’ve scored 9 goals and let in only 1. The all time head-to-head against Watford at Vicarage Road is another reason to think we can win there. We have won 4 of the last 5 games away to Watford when we have played them in the top division.
Liverpool have a terrific record of 4 opening day games won in the last 4 years so hopefully it’s 5 today. But then when we’ve lost our opening day games 3 of the 4 have been away from home.
The last time Watford’s new manager sent out a home side against Liverpool was when he was in charge of Hull and Silva’s lads beat us 2-0. Jurgen Klopp’s biggest battering as a manager of Liverpool came when Watford beat us 3-0 at their place.
But we won our last 4 Premier League away games last season and if we can keep a clean sheet today then it will be 5 on the bounce for the first time in 10 years.
With 5 of the last 11 games and 3 of the last six ending 1-0 and 4 of those ending 1-0 to Liverpool I have a feeling this might be tight but I thought that last night too and both sides had glass chins at the back.
This feels about as tricky as it could be and even in the middle of a campaign I’d think twice about betting on it but if things go to plan I’d have the following bets.
LIVERPOOL TO BE DRAWING HT, WINNING FT – 1 POINT @ 10/3
LIVERPOOL TO WIN 1-0 – .5 POINT @ 11/2
