Enough times those decisions are right, to make up for the times I get it wrong….which is more often than I get it right….if that makes sense.
Last season Ed Vaughan told Steve Taplin that TONAHUTU was his “bargain buy”. He picked this filly up for £16,000 and described her as “very forward going, mentally switched on”.
She won one, was placed second in two and this afternoon makes debut in the Lingfield 2-40. Has she trained on? I have no idea but what I do know is that Ed has booked Harry Bentley to ride her and he was on board when she won her only race as a juvenile.
When they work together at Lingfield, they have a superb record….Ed has put Harry up on six in the last five years….he has won on three of them.
Currently 7 on Betfair, I’ll go in 20/80.
A more speculative one later is PRIMROSE PLACE who makes debut for David Evans….the horse was with Richard Hannon last year and she ended her juvenile career a beaten favourite.
The trainer has sent her on a 320 mile round trip today and booked Kieran Shoemark to ride. He is 1-2 for this trainer at this track in the last five years and at the current 14.5 is worth a tiny play….20/80.
TONAHUTU (Lingfield 2-40) – 20/80
PRIMROSE PLACE (Lingfield 4-40) – 20/80
