Haydock is a mixed meeting and I’ve covered a couple in today’s OF INTEREST section of the newsletter.
Ascot sees a good few non-runners coming through already. My first rated race there has completely fallen apart and I’m leaving the rest of that meeting alone.
It is interesting to see that de Sousa has gone to Nottingham rather than either Ascot or Haydock. When he rides at this track for Mick Channon they have a 29% strike rate (5-17), but that trainer is more likely to win with his juveniles as opposed to his older horses and my reading of the meeting suggests he’s here to ride TROPICAL ROCK for Beckett.
Beckett sends just one here today and he’s been given the best draw for this filly.
I will be having a 20/80 TROPICAL ROCK (Nottingham 3-50)
The only other horse I’m thinking might be worth a 20/80 tonight is ELTANIN in the 7-15.
I like the booking of Jason Hart by John Quinn because on the eight previous occasions he has used this jockey here before, they have produced two winners and a level stake profit of £32.98
The horse makes handicap debut today and whilst being drawn low or high is best (marginal preference high), the better horses seem to be on the same side and I’ll have a little play this one.
That will be it for today.
TROPICAL ROCK (Nottingham 3-50) – 20/80
ELTANIN (Nottingham 7-15) – 20/80
