Today’s Preview 02/05/17

Yesterday’s sole selection is a much a sprinter as I am and will need further this season. One of the hazards of only having last season form to work with right now and I’m thinking that for at least the next month I’ll be getting all “ultra-selective” in this section.

We have three meetings today but two are for Previewing only….Brighton and Yarmouth.

The way this section works is that races not covered by Ratings, or introduced into the OF INTEREST section of the Newsletter, will be covered here, if something warrants inclusion.

Today the following horses have been looked at:

NOTTINGHAM

LADY HESTER (4-20)
MIDNIGHT VIXEN (4-20)

The first named has now been withdrawn today so just MIDNIGHT VIXEN is discussed as a potential play.

It’s very similar to the situation yesterday in that we are looking at an all 3-y-o race, several of which (including the selection), have yet to race this season.

The fact Ryan Moore is here to ride is not necessarily an indication the horse is here to win. He’s as prone to be used for educational purposes as anything and report back on whether they have a goose or a swan.

The sire had an early season winner at Bath yesterday (the winner of the race we got involved in, as a matter of fact), but in here we have the likes of MOUILLE POINT, CANBERRA CLIFFS and SECRET SOUL all having had an early season tube clearer and for that reason I’m watching only.

BRIGHTON

RAFFLE KING(2-30)
OTOMO (2-30)

I’m happy to suggest RAFFLE KING as a play now that FOXCATCHER has been withdrawn.

OTOMO makes seasonal debut today whilst the Channon runner has been racing (25 days ago, 3rd in higher grade), and having proven he handles this switchback track on debut last season, comes with very few if’s or buts.

Charles Bishop is 10-31 for Channon here and this is his only ride this afternoon. I’m thinking OTOMO will go off fast and set it up for my selection and this horses penchant for finishing second might just provide those fancying it, the CSF.

I’ll just have a straight win, to minimal staking (it’s a Class 5 on a gaff track), and see if that seasonal debut has given him an edge.

Good luck!
