It is quite possible that I’ll be working with Newsletter only from the start of the next NH season as no matter what is done, and no matter how proficient the IT help I receive is, I am constantly frustrated by issues that are website related.
I guess you only bang your head against the door until your head hurts and then you realise why and say to yourself, “stop doing that!”.
I intend laying two Gosden runners this afternoon:
ENABLE (Chester 2-25)
STRADIVARIUS (Chester 4-05)
2-25 – ARKLE FINANCE CHESHIRE OAKS (FOR THE ROBERT SANGSTER MEMORIAL CUP) (LISTED RACE) (Class 1) (3yo) Winner £34,026 7 runners 1m3f75y Good ITV4
A small field of just seven, two of which have no chance at all if everything is “right”.
The two the market prefers are:
Six of the last 10 favourites have won this and Aiden O’Brien has saddled the last two winners….and has won this no fewer than five times in the last nine years.
He saddles today’s favourite ALLURINGLY and I’ll not be looking elsewhere for my winner.
Gosden has saddled eight runners in this race over the last 10 seasons and won just one, placing in four. O’Brien has saddled five of the last nine winners.
POST RACING LAY: ENABLE
4-05 – SPORTING INDEX HANDICAP (Class 3) (3yo) Winner £9,960 8 runners 1m4f63y Good RUK
The horse I recently added to the 20 to Follow list, STRADIVARIUS, runs here but it’s a fact Gosden has run five in this over the last 10 years and none has won. Only one has placed.
Only two of the last 10 favourites have won this too so, that’s a double whammy for the Gosden runner.
Based on those stats alone I have to get after this short priced one.
POST RACING LAY: STRADIVARIUS
Dettori rides both and Gosden has put him up on just three here in the last five years….not a sausage….0-3….there has to be a reason Dettori has only had 10 rides here in that time, too. Could it be he needs lessons from Franny Norton on how to ride the place?
Seriously, both obviously have strong chances based on their respective formlines but statistically they are weak.
I will be looking through the meeting at Bath this afternoon and posting up a lay if one exists so please refer back around 5-00pm.
Best of luck
