Today’s Preview 30/04/17

The figures yesterday were stunning and on the back of those, I have a very good feeling about the summer to come.

The weather forecast for May is superb and if we get consistent going forecasts, we’ll do better than ok, I’m sure.

We get an opportunity today, to see if my including ADAMANT as a banker in the Highclere Five to Follow entry I have made on your behalf was correct.

He runs in the Salisbury 3-30 and I can make a case for three in that, including the Stoute runner. Both ELAS RUBY and EARTHLY (place play potential at least), will give the Highclere runner a race but I feel Gosden has a negative here in the booking of Jimmy Fortune to ride. He has only ridden five runners from 69 runners at Salisbury and is seen as the weak link.

I hope my reading of ADAMANT’s form last season is correct because he’ll be a big points scorer for us if I am. When he made debut last season he was ridden by Ryan Moore against the long odds on shot from the same stable and was given what I’d describe as an educational ride.

A month later he went to Windsor, went from the front and sluiced up. In that race he had EARTHLY back in fifth, beaten four lengths. Moore then rode that one next time out to win.

I think he could be better than a handicapper but we’ll see as the season goes on.

ELAS RUBY’s only win so far has come on all weather at Chelmsford and she has only placed once from four on turf.

I’d go with ADAMANT.

That would be my only play from a previewing perspective.

I have rated the race in which HELOVAPLAN runs but with four making handicap debut in that it’s impossible to say anyone should work with them…no way have their trainers let them show what they can do yet, and that includes ours.

But we have achieved the highest RPR rating of any of these to date (83), and I guess that’s an indication as good as any an indication as to our chances.

I know when I speak to Bryan he’s going to tell me he’s well, he’s eating up and going well at home but that he has no idea how good BARWELL is, or that handicap debutante sitting top rated!

Plain fact is, if we didn’t have a horse running in this, I would be telling you to avoid it like the plague!

Good luck today!
