My apologies for a lack of preview yesterday but the Post Racing website is not working as it should and until I get things sorted out over there, the vast majority of my work will go out in Newsletter form only….and that of Tony Davidson.
We have two meetings to look at this afternoon but the only races I will be previewing are:
FFOS LAS 12-50
FFOS LAS 1-55
To clarify, i’ll not be looking for the winners of novelty races (veterans, or greys only nonsense), conditional jockey or amateur riders events, or races consisting of less than six runners.
Bumpers too will be given a cold shoulder unless i receive information from people I know that one is off and that I’m free to pass this on.
1-05 – RACING UK WINTER SEASON TICKET NOVICES´ LIMITED HANDICAP CHASE (CLASS 3) (4yo+ 0-135) Winner £6,498 6 runners 2m4f10y Good
Now down to just five runners and so, I’m outta here!
12-50 – ROB DAVIES CHEMISTS NOVICES´ HURDLE (CLASS 4) (4yo+) Winner £3,899 8 runners 1m7f182y Good
Statistically we do not have a lot to go on here. If you were to take things literally then you’d go with SOUTHPORT who is 1-1 both trip/ground.
STAGE ONE represents the Dan Skelton team and he was put away for a year after running home third at Doncaster last November.
He’s returned as a second season novice (something Dan considered for our horse, MEET THE LEGEND, the plan having been back then to win the race ALTIOR won on Boxing Day, when we made debut over hurdles), and with the yard operating at a 28% strike rate in the last 14 days, you have to very much respect his chances here.
He made seasonal debut 23 days ago but could only manage third, going off favourite to collect. He drops back in trip today after going as well as anything at the two mile marker in that Fakenham race.
He simply ran out of legs over 20 furlongs on debut and currently trading 4 on betfair, I’m going in 20/80 here.
POST RACING SELECTION – STAGE ONE – 20/80
1-55 – LIKES LANDROVER MAIDEN HURDLE (CLASS 5) (4yo+) Winner £2,274 13 runners 2m4f Good
This race has been used for an OF INTEREST selection and therefore does not qualify for Previewing.
The ground will be a problem for us, creating small fields that will only get smaller as trainers arrive on course to find it’s like a road and they’ve had a wasted journey.
We will find our turn arrives soon enough though so keep your powder dry and ready for firing!
Best of luck
