Today’s ratings and Advice 21/10/16

Ron RobinsonI’m still pinching myself following those results achieved yesterday. To achieve five top rated winners from nine races in peak season will be some feat but, to do it in October is just plain weird, however confident I was that this season really would kick off early.

Cheltenham today and whilst we only have one rated race to look at it’s ultra competitive. If my figures are right, Nicky Henderson works wonders on another long absent one and brings MY WIGWAM OR YOURS back off an absence 11 times longer than I was hospitalised for in 2013-2014 (I still shudder at the thought of mashed potato!).

Once this has gone out today I will be busy preparing the weekend Newsletters. I’ve prizes to deliver, two pieces to write for the Sentire website, raffle cheque banking still to do, an article to write for an online magazine, edit Tony’s football posts and help him box off his Newsletter (he’ll get a handle on it all soon enough), take Karen to work, pick her up again at 4-30pm, and I also want to put together my thoughts on how we can have PAMPANINI running in our colours this season, all proceeds of any winnings plus future sales value being divided equally between The IJF, Racing Welfare, Greatwood and The Bob Champion Cancer Trust.

I will make the layers pay for it all, too.

If you don’t fancy it, then it won’t work but if you do, great.

Four more Cheltenham badges have been purchased….eight in total. These are going to be used to create more funding for our garden. The build has been covered but now we’ll have substantial planting to do come April, I want to employ a local firm to undertake regular maintenance and have a contract in place for that.

What clearly happens on the whole site is that planting is done….then left to its own devices.

I also want to employ a couple of people locally to run the Sentire website. This will become the main fund raising source for CHLOF. It will only really appeal to those local to Merseyside and Wirral but will also provide a heck of a lot of “good news”, that’ll give you a lift.

Three years I have given myself, to make sure the lot is in place. I’ll need your help and given the support the raffle had, I know you will get stuck in.

For those 500 Club members that might not yet have seen this I would like to know who might like to go racing with TOWER OF ALLEN, as the Post Racing representative, at Chepstow next Tuesday.

Highclere has advised that Nicky Henderson has entered him for that race, the 2-00pm event over 2 miles 3 furlongs.

I’ll need names as soon as possible please so that I can perform the draw for the badge and let Highclere know the name of the member attending on the day, should we declare to run.

NOTES: A cracker to kick things off this weekend. Statistically you’ll find more negatives than positives, the only previous course winner in the field, ALTESSE DE GUYE, 0-6 on the going as currently described.

If you want the horse boasting superb ground/trip stats then I introduce you to LORD WISHES….4-6/4-7 respectively. yet to race here but he has been i decent form this term, winning well under Nick Schofield at Wetherby just over a week ago. James Ewart is 2-6 in the last 14 days and only Twiston-Davies, of all the trainers represented here, has a better current strike rate (8-23….35%).

James has only ever sent one down here before and it came up short….my figures suggest the same will happen today.

I myself will work with my numbers/icons so, rated horses 1 & 6 are in the dutch. With WASHED ASHORE unbeaten in two starts over hurdles and the step up in trip almost certain to suit him, he’s in, too.

Exotics, of course and I’ll go 20/80 my top one. When he was last seen he was pulled up and obviously something serious happened that day for him to have been off the track for so long. Prior to that though, he had only ever once been out of the first four in 10 runs, and that was when he fell at the last at Bangor, when leading.

I’d be pretty sure Nicky wouldn’t be sending him here if he was anything less than fit enough to do himself justice and will trust to my figures.

Have a great day
