Hereford Preview 06/10/16

Ron RobinsonI’m not going near a Preview for Exeter because of the underfoot conditions down there. Sending horses over hurdles and fences on ground with the word firm used in the going description just isn’t my cup of tea at all.

To be honest I was going to swerve Hereford too. It has been off the menu for four years and who knows how it’s going to ride.

I tend to like a minimum of five years empirical data to work with, when assessing a race for betting and right now I effectively have just one.

What I have noted though is how effective Noel Fehily is around that place. Again my stats are limited but his last three rides there yielded two winners.

He rides COLLODI for Neil Mulholland at 3-40 and SOME KINDA LAMA for Charlie Mann in the 5-20. Martin Keighley is “top trainer” here and saddles BOBBLE EMERALD in that 3-40pm race, too but that one only raced yesterday and as brilliant a record as the trainer has, sending a horse racing two days on the bounce has never been something I’m a fan of and I’d prefer COLLODI.

Both Nicky Henderson and and Alan King are supporting the first day of re-opening and their hurdlers have to been given the utmost consideration.

That makes RATHER BE of interest in the first race. The only Henderson runner here today over hurdles, I would expect him to be competitive for a yard already in form.

One you must have a good look at is BELMOUNT in the 4-15. The Twiston-Davies yard pull up trees here and whilst this is the best race of the day being run anywhere, he’s very much one I also feel will run a big race for a yard that was 2-4 with runners here when Sam and Nigel joined forces, and stats last mattered.

It is very much a day I’m watching only but tonight I have the name of a horse going out to 500 Club and Site Members that will win a good few in Ireland this term….and most likely end up at Cheltenham in March.

Have a great day

Ron
