I imagine there will not be many Welsh lads forked out the near £150,000 touts were asking for a pair of tickets for this game on viagogo.com and they’ll be in a pub somewhere instead. The face value is £37.50 each.
FIFA rankings have Belgium second only to Argentina with Wales sitting 26th and Belgium are growing into the tournament and were very impressive last time. Wales needed an own goal to get to this stage and I keep saying that without Bale they are an ordinary side but, they have Bale.
Wales took 4 points off Belgium in the qualifying group to get here.
They have played each other 13 times since 1949 and I was surprised to find its only 5-4 to Belgium with 3 games drawn. Wales actually won 1-0 the last time they met in a qualifier for this tournament and Bale scored the winner. Who else!
Belgium started slowly but they have only conceded 1 goal so far and that was in the very first game. They have now conceded none in 3 and scored 8.
In the last 4 games between these 2 sides both sides have scored only 1 goal.
That suggests it will probably be tighter than you might think at first based on recent games here but I just don’t think Wales will handle Hazard if he is in the form he showed last game against Hungary.
Bale is obviously dangerous from dead ball situations and that’s putting me off betting Belgium to win to nil. Because of him Wales were the joint leading goal scorers in the group stages.
