1-50 – JUMPING AROUND – STRAIGHT WIN
2-25 – JUMAIRAH STAR – 20/80
3-00 – GOTHIC EMPIRE – 20/80
A six furlong juvenile contest to kick off with and a high draw doesn’t seem a hardship! The Haggas runner, JUMPING AROUND strikes me as a likely winner.
A beaten favourite on debut he has the opportunity to get the shekels back under a jockey that is is 2-4 at Lingfield on turf for this trainer in the last five years.
I will be very interested to see how HANDFUL gets on and I’m thinking he’ll be competitive even from his low draw.
An all 3-y-0 Handicap at 2-25 and I definitely would be favouring high drawn horses. having said that, everything in a double figure numbered box is looking ordinary…which of course, you’d expect in this grade.
I’d be expecting JUMAIRAH STAR to run well for a yard boasting a 15% strike rate with horses of this age group over the last five years. That’s the best %age strike rate of any trainer saddling one in this race. The booking of Adam Kirby, who is 2-10 in that same time period, takes the eye and a high end of middle draw isn’t the worst.
At 3-00 I would have to suggest punting GOTHIC EMPIRE. James Fanshawe only sends them to race here when they are “off” as his 1-1 strike rate with 4-y-o’s and older indicates. It looks a trap race with one or two unexposed (AFJAAN for example), but hopefuly a 20/80 would produce a profit.
The last of the turf races here goes off at 3-35pm. It’s a class 6 Handicap which offers no serious bias regarding the draw and it’s just not a race I’d even contemplate playing.
Best of luck with your betting today
