NOTES: My top one is very hard to win with but ultra consistent. To date he has raced 24 times under rules but won only three. He has placed second five times, four of those having come in his last four runs. in those four runs he has been beaten a total of two lengths….he’s finding one just to good each time and I get the feeling he’s one of those that likes to see one just in front of him.
No fewer than 13 of those 24 runs to date have come here and his form figures read 7, 5, 1, 1, 2, 6, 1, 8, 6, 5, 9, 2, 2….given his overall profile he’s a banker to place but I couldn’t trust him with a win only punt.
My second highest rated horse is 1-6 ground, 2-3 trip and 1-2 here. They tried him over 10 furlongs here on seasonal debut and he finished fifth beaten just over a length in which they finished in a right old heap. Now back to the trip he’s best at I expect a better run. Last season he had a pipe opener at Wetherby before winning second time up at Salisbury and my figures suggest that’s something that might be repeated here.
ROCKET RONNIE loves it here, has ticks in all three boxes but has yet to win on seasonal debut. In fact, it’s taken four or five runs to get him to his peak. He has only won once before July in his 37 career runs and whilst a place isn’t out of the question, I again couldn’t trust him with my win portion.
What I will be doing is dutching that trio though because I don’t see much else I can do here.
A dutch, a 20/80 LOPITA DE VEGA and exotics….lowish staking though.

NOTES: The best race of the day. My top rated is unbeaten on this ground…3-3….he’s 1-3 here, 1-5 trip and has three icons.
That one sitting second best is a standing dish here (5-16), is bang in form and if he gets the breaks when he needs them, he’s got a great chance of following up his recent win. However, he has never yet put together back to back wins.
SUNRAIDER is my idea of the main danger to my top one. He’s 2-7 here and has ticks in the ground/trip boxes.
I’m working with my top three – dutch, straight win FINAL VENTURE and exotics but if FIRECRACKER takes the prize home, I’d not be in the least bit surprised.
Best of luck today
