A long way to go yet though.
I’m looking for Germany to start really well tonight but they’ll probably not be winning by a huge margin. Ukraine are very hard to score against and only conceded 5 in their 12 qualifying matches.
The Ukrainians have only been to one finals before and went home after the group stages were finished. They only scored 2 in that competition and both were scored by Shevchenko. They do not have a Shevchenko these days.
Most goals come from the 2 wingers and their striker has only scored 4 goals in 24 international matches.
The Germans basically make this their competition. In the 11 European Championships they have played in they have won 6 and drawn 5 of their opening games and will have done their home work on Yarmolenko and Konoplyanka. That guy had been linked with my team Liverpool a couple of years ago and he’s a decent player.
When I was researching the game I found that Muller has not scored in a Euros yet and his World Cup record is brilliant by comparison. He did score 9 in the qualifiers though and I think he’ll put the record straight during this one.
Ukraine have never beaten Germany in the 5 games they have played against them but they have drawn 3 of the 5.
I expect Germany to win this but not by much.
My bet here will be Germany to win by 1 goal – 1 point @ 12/5
Muller to score any time – 1 point @ 6/5
