I’m sure those using the figures should have enjoyed a top rated winner in the Plumpton 3-00pm but on the two occasions DANCING DIK was required to jump the open ditch, it made a decision not to. On the most important of those two visits to that fence he made an error that had the jockey in orbit, the fence made a mess of and they virtually stopped. Paddy Brennan somehow landed back in the saddle and got the horse going again but from being about five or six lengths in front, they came away from that fence in second place and with this horse needing to be racing from the front, that race was lost. The 25/1 rag went on to win easily.
My top four rated in the 4-30 were the first four home but unfortunately not in the correct order. What we do need to be aware of is the form of the Neil King yard right now. When I checked the tissue his runner, THE BOSS’S DREAM, was trading longest of the four at 5.1….sitting third best on my figures. The horse was duly punted in to 9/4 favourite on track and won very cosily.
The rated race that would have been better run across the Serengeti, that 5-30, went to my second highest rated horse that had won just two days earlier. Connections are making hay whilst the sun shines….which will not be much longer if the weather forecast I heard at 5-00am this morning is correct.
Brace yourself….from tonight, it turns. The rains are coming, which is brilliant news.
Today I have two rated races from Exeter and you have one of them below.
H* – CAULFIELDS VENTURE….+11
T – FRUITY O’ROONEY….-7
I have one sitting top, CAULFIELDS VENTURE, that is 1-1 on the ground, 2-2 at the track, running in first time headgear for a trainer that had a very easy winner yesterday, ANDY KELLY, who took that good novice event very easily indeed.
She has booked Aiden Coleman to ride and his record on the horse reads 1, 1, 4, 1, 2, PU….he has hidden this horse on both occasion he has won at Exeter.
CAULFIELDS VENTURE is the only runner in here with winning form on the going as currently described, despite being a nine year old he has only had 26 races and 19 of those have been steeplechases. Of those 19 races he has won four and come home second five times….another two 3rd placings on that CV and, whilst first run off a break is generally needed, he has enough about him to be very interesting to those who are betting in October.
