I believe the Cheltenham Festival Bumper this year was a very strong renewal and that the third horse on my list will prove as likely a winner of the Supreme Novices at Cheltenham as anything. Obviously the Mullins/Ricci set up will have a bit to say about that and if they send the one I am really looking forward to seeing from that yard for the same race, it should be an absolute doozie of a race.
Obviously we are taking on trust he can jump. It doesn’t matter how quickly they can cover two miles on the flat if obstacles then turn them into plodders but I’m thinking connections didn’t spend £225,000 without taking that into consideration.
MOON RACER is currently available around 9/1 for that race and you would have rocks in your head if you take that but with Paul Nicholls having already paid a sum the equivalent of five numbers and the bonus ball for the runner up MODUS, and him believing that horse is one he’s looking forward to running over hurdles this season, I’m ultra confident this horse is going to be a very serious Cheltenham Festival “likely lad” and he’s in my list of 20 for this season.
My feeling is we’ll not see much of him but that he’ll arrive at Prestbury Park unbeaten and be very competitive in that race mentioned.
