Monk in fear of being “Sainted”?

Tony DavidsonWe are still seeing some very silly results and all the talk of managers losing their jobs already is doing my head in.

Right now only one team is unbeaten in the league, Leicester and nobody has settled in to a normal game yet. I certainly didn’t really want to start betting on it until October and even then its probably still going to be hard to predict a result.

Last weekend again only three home sides managed to win.

The talk of Rodgers losing his job at Liverpool because they are struggling to score goals must have Wenger looking over his shoulder because Arsenal have only scored one more than my team.

Right now 2 wins can have any one of 7 sides in the top 4 and another set of managers looking at joining the list of unemployed managers.

How can we sensibly bet on football right now?

I promised Ron I would bang some bets up in September so here goes nothing.

The game I will be betting on this weekend is

SOUTHAMPTON V SWANSEA

The away side have now also started struggling for goals while Southampton had some serious shooting practice in midweek putting 6 past David Martin, ex-Liverpool and son of Alvin, and Wimbledon while Swansea have now had 3 blanks on the bounce, losing at Hull in the League Cup on Tuesday.

I honestly felt they would beat Everton last weekend but they made the mistake of not letting Everton have the bulk of the ball and playing as previously and hitting sides on the break. The two sides basically shared possession and cancelled each other out, just 5 shots on target all game between them.

Since losing in Europe Southampton have scored 11 goals in 4 games and importantly Pelle seems to have found his boots again too.

I’m favouring a home win tomorrow and will have 3 bets on that match

SOUTHAMPTON TO WIN – 2PTS @ 11/10 (Paddy Power)
SOUTHAMPTON TO WIN 2-0 – 0.5PT @ 15/2
PELLE TO SCORE AT ANYTIME – 1PT @ 13/8

Good luck

Tony
