Today’s Ratings and Advice 24/06/15

Ron RobinsonYou reach that age, don’t you.

A letter arrived yesterday advising me of another medical appointment. On checking my calendar I noted it clashed with another and today will have to rearrange it.

On Monday I had an appointment to collect new glasses (varifocals…going to take a few days to get used to them!), and I was sure I also had another appointment with a nurse at my local surgery. Made a call and was advised it was not 22nd but 29th. Changed diary entry then during the afternoon I get a call to say they had a cancellation and could I attend at 11-00am yesterday. I did.

The calendar is filling up fast and yesterday’s visit only added to the list, two more appointments being logged as I’ve apparently now got type 2 diabetes because of the medication I was on for something else! Magic.

Like I say, you reach “that age”, don’t you. I’m going to have to put a “medical” calendar up on the wall!

The figure yesterday were still extremely accurate….just not accurate enough. The Brighton race was “interesting”. One of the two horses that had previous winning form on the going they were racing on (3rd highest rated in a seven runner event), went in at 33/1 and I hope those trusting to icons had that, even if it was just part of a two horse dutch. I didn’t.

TODAY

From July 1st you will start receiving ratings for all aged handicaps containing 3-y-o’s. It should be an informative first couple of weeks…and a very busy one for me. When we do start working with them I will definitely be sending out two Newsletters per day covering afternoon and evening racing.

We have four rated races below, Carlisle offering up very competitive racing. I always look forward to the Carlisle Bell.

I’ll be working on six races for tomorrow once this has gone out, Newcastle (as usual), providing us with plenty to work with….a great shame they are going all weather.

ASSUMPTIONS:
I am currently unable to access the BHA website to obtain the latest going guides

ICONS

* – Indicates their having won previously on the going as currently described
§ – Indicates best drawn
T – Indicates a horse having made a round trip of 300 miles or more
H – Indicates horses sporting headgear for the first time (blinkers, hood, cheekpieces, tongue-tie etc)

FINAL FIGURES

BATH 6-10

* – QUINTA FEIRA….+9
* – STORMBOUND….-2
JERSEY BROWN….-11
HOT MUSTARD….-16
KNOW YOUR NAME….-22
GREYEMKAY….-23
BALTIC PRINCE….-26
PEAK STORM….-35

NOTES: this and the Salisbury race will be trusted to the figures. Top two for everything here.

CARLISLE 3-35

* – IFWECAN….+9
§* – TRINITY STAR….+9
GINGER JACK….+8
* – KARAKA JACK….+6
§ – AUTUN….+5
* – OSTEOPATHIC REMEDY….+5
* – BORDER BANDIT….+2
§ – ART OBSESSION….+1
§* – ALEXANDERKOLLONTAI….-1
* – OUR BOY JACK….-6
* – ALTHAROOS….-6
T§* – EURYSTHEUS….-8
* – PROVIDENT SPIRIT….-9
* – HE’S NO SAINT….-19
DUBAI HILLS….-23
T* – BOONGA ROOGETA….-25
§ – ROAYH….-35

NOTES: I’m looking forward to this but it does have the feeling of a race that is a bit all over the place. The only runner here with previous winning form at the track is ALEXANDERKOLLONTAI. The horse “most likely to succeed” based on going preferences is BOONGA ROOGETA (3-9). That one is also 2-7 at the trip, but based on trip preference, I’d be drawn more towards trinity star, who has won three of seven previous attempts at it.

I’m simply going to work with the three highest rated horses bearing icons and we’ll see how I get on.

MY PLAY:

DUTCH – IFWECAN, TRINITY STAR, KARAKA JACK
20/80 – TRINITY STAR
EXOICS – IFWECAN, TRINITY STAR, KARAKA JACK

CARLISLE 4-45

NOBLE ALAN….+17
* – ARCHIE’S ADVICE….+11
§* – TOP OF THE GLAS….+9
§* – ELTHEEB….+9
§* – MODERNISM….+5
T§* – BRIGADOON….-8
CARTHAGE….-10
* – PIVOTMAN….-11
* – WARFARE….-11
T* – EXCELLENT PUCK….-15
T§* – COMEDY KING….-20
NAKEETA….-27
H§ – INNOCENT TOUCH….-29
KINEMA….-31
VILLORESI….-36
RALPHY LAD….-37
NONCHALENT….-40

NOTES; When do you let age put you off one? My top rated is verging on the need for Philosan and whilst he did win this race off a higher mark last season, it’s reasonable to expect him to struggle at his age…isn’t it? No horse here has ticks in all boxes but BRIGADOON has never raced here. Given he is 2-4 on the ground and 2-6 at the trip, has those three icons and is in my top six, he’s getting my solo play.

MY PLAY:

DUTCH – ARCHIE’S ADVICE, TOP OF THE GLAS, BRIGADOON
20/80 – BRIGADOON
EXOICS – ARCHIE’S ADVICE, TOP OF THE GLAS, BRIGADOON

SALISBURY 2-40

* – GO NANI GO….+1
* – MIDNIGHT RIDER….-2
* – DISHY GURU….-4
* – ANGELITO….-10
* – WHITECREST….-11
* – SWENDAB….-11
* – NOCTURN….-12
* – WASEEM FARIS….-15

NOTES: I’ll simply play my top three to lowish staking and hopefully those figures read true.

Have a brilliant day and the best of luck

Kindest regards

Ron
