I mentioned recently that I had been posting these up on the Post Racing Facebook wall and they are proving quite successful.
The day before last I posted this up on the wall:
“Prepping tomorrow’s Ratings and I’m hoping Towcester get away with this bad weather as I really do like the look of NEWTON THISTLE (2-20).
Final figures tomorrow but I’ll be surprised if he’s not top rated.”
The final figures came out so:
* – NEWTON THISTLE….+20 – WON 11/4
* – WICKLEWOOD….+18
* – TAKE THE MICK….+10
* – MUSICAL WEDGE….-8
* – VICTORY GUNNER….-10
JOLLY BOYS OUTING….-20
MY PLAY – I mooted on Facebook yesterday that the preliminary prep indicated NEWTON THISTLE was interesting at that point and he’s even more so now. I’m just hoping the going is as described because I have a good feeling about today’s figures.
Here I’d be expecting the winner to come from rated horses 1, 2 and 5….the dutch, 20/80 and exotics will certainly be checked over.
It would seem many are now using these advices and a fair few got on at bigger prices than you would have got yesterday. That one was up at 5/1 the evening before racing.
In the Newsletters I will indicate which, if any, are as interesting as that one above.
An e-mail arrived from Derek (morning again, Derek!), asking if this information could be posted on the website and at that point I made the design that they should go out by Newsletter and be an additional website resource.
I think, proof positive, that she won her penultimate race on bad ground purely and simply because Gary Derwin did his homework.
That ground yesterday was shocking. She has done great to get fourth and add a few more £’s to the charity pot.
I am hoping that effort has not left Cheltenham behind but we’ll see what Harry comes back with today and work from there.
The one thing she clearly does is try her heart out for you.
We have, overnight, migrated the website to our own server and I think it loads much quicker. If you have any problems with it, please let me know right away so that I can get things sorted out for you.
We have racing from Catterick and Chepstow today and, for the first time in a few days, have horses representing the “T” factor.
However, both tracks have inspections planned and the latest going forecasts are from yesterday.
Yesterday it was plain as day that we had lost the ground at Wincanton and as I listened to Lydia interviewing the CoC on RUK I knew that goose had been cooked.
What I didn’t get was this:
Lydia: “You have changed the going description to heavy, soft in places, how did it walk?”
CoC: “It’s actually heavy all over with plenty of water on top. We got a lot more rain than we expected and expect more through the day”
So why was the official going description changed to heavy all over….I watched every race and if any “soft” ever existed I’m Jool van Sloots.
They didn’t actually change it to heavy all over until after the 2-10 race, which was ridiculous. The Racing Post simply says, “the racing here was run on proper winter ground, which the times of the races indicates”.
Ladies and gents….they are putting us away so, beware when parting with the shekels.
After watching that racing yesterday I have made a decision to wait for things to dry out a bit. I’ll not be betting unless something winks at me as Newton Thistle did.
I simply do not trust the guys in charge at those tracks, an inch.
This should be available to you earlier today as we are “on air” at noon so hopefully we’ll find something worth getting involved in before your head hits the pillow tonight.
Make sure to listen in see if you have won this weekends free bet. The answer to last weeks question will be given and a new question posed.
