I mentioned yesterday I was knocking up a curry and it was the first I have done “properly” since my days at the Far Pavilions. The amount of prep involved before cooking was far more than for Rating a Grand National! – when I worked in that kitchen three of us prepped up but yesterday I had to knock up the curry sauce, bone the lamb, prepare the rice and then cook it up.
The end result though was worth it but, the verdict was, “better than Bhaji!”….our local curry house. They want it again….it’ll have to replace the Sunday roast as weekdays they have no chance….thankfully racing today is light on races for us to work with and I didn’t lose much by way of time.
I did enjoy the distraction though and it brought back some brilliant memories. Had the new Waterboys CD on whilst “working” and I have to say, it’s brilliant.
Again very pleased with my decision to abstain from betting yesterday.
The Catterick figures performed well enough, the winner and runner up of the first three races there being found in my top three rated horses so, a sign things are about to improve.
Fakenham was very much in danger of being lost earlier this week but despite an inspection being planned, they seem confident of racing. To be quite honest with you, if it went we’d not be missing a lot.
With just 37 horses set to race there this afternoon is simply ridiculous. They kick off with a three runner event, which is closely followed by a Class 5 conditional jockeys handicap, a race I would not even consider looking at. A five runner handicap at 2-30….no good for Ratings purposes, a seven runner Mares’ maiden and then, come 3-30, another five runner handicap.
The only race I can rate arrives at 4-00 which can only be described as rubbish. None has previously won on the going they will face today, between the seven runners they have attempted to win over the trip no fewer than 27 times and all have failed. Two have tried to win at Fakenham before, and failed.
My top rated in that race has failed once on the going, four times at the trip and once over the track.
If you choose to play such a race, good luck to you.
I’d be thinking Warwick looks a tad better.
No betting for me until Saturday. I’ve had a good look already at those cards and if the numbers taking part hold up, then we’ll have something to play with. I know that we have several opportunities for Profiling and am looking forward to doing those again.
Plenty of correct answers have come in regarding last weeks competition and during the Podcast tomorrow we’ll be telling you who has won the free £25 bet this weekend.
If you entered you will need to listen in and claim your prize if your name is called out!
Plenty of things to talk about and hopefully a winner or two mentioned, too.
