A couple of things to mention before signing off for today.
As you know, Grandorio has gone through the ring at the Horse In Training sale. This time last year he had enjoyed a very good season and had gone to the sales with a reserve of £80k but attracted a top bid of £45k, so was bought in and we kept going with him.
How things can change. This is a perfect example of racing fortunes.
His season had been frustrating due to his tendency to pull like a train and veering off right at the worst possible moment. His last run for us, in the Shergar Cup at Ascot, saw him pulled up by Frankie Dettori and not long after that he developed a tendon issue.
David had him looking as fit as a flea for the sales but unfortunately what had happened this time around was lost on nobody buying a horse down there and he made just £3k.
He has been absolutely brilliant for us and I hope whatever he does next he gives his new owners as much pleasure as he gave us.
I’m now looking at getting you involved in several horses for both the new NH season about to begin and a juvenile being readied for the flat next year.
Sedgefield and Stratford provide the fun today and we’ve five rated races to look at.
This morning I’ll be prepping my work for the Podcast and we have a fair amount to look at, too. I have no real idea as to the strength of American form compared to that of our horses and the Breeders Cup is only for watching for me personally. However, I’m sure we can make a few enquiries and find out the names of one or two expected to bring home the bacon.
I confess, the racing from Ascot, Ayr, Wetherby and Down Royal give me much more of a tingle!
November 1st signals the start of the season proper for me and whilst it’ll be a week later that I start punting again, I hope to point you in the direction of a couple of winners and most likely we’ll have at least two profiled races….maybe more.
