Today’s Rating’s and Advice 29/11/14

Ron RobinsonThe first thing I did when starting my prep work for today was rule out any notion of rating races at Taunton. The ground there is currently described as firm and having looked through each of the handicaps in search of horses that might even be remotely suited to it, I found none.

NH racing during the summer escapes my gaze because I simply don’t want to see substandard horses racing on ground that might end up doing them a mischief. In the interests of safety they will be sanding the bend after the winning post but I’m thinking jockeys will be mindful of “safety first” all the way around as they’ll not want to be hitting that at 30 mph, should they be unfortunate enough to come off!

Therefore we have three from Worcester only I’m afraid.

TODAY

I’m back at my desk full time for the first time in two weeks as Karen is back to work and I can get stuck in to what requires doing here. The first thing on my list is to ensure the new Newsletter databases are spot on and that all those that have renewed their subscriptions have their website permissions reset.

Sash, apologies for the panic last night! You renewed on the day we were packing and got caught up in that whirlwind! All is now right with your account at this end.

What we have seen is a right good number moving over from Site Member to 500 Club. That was something I hoped would happen after we announced the new subscription pricing structure. I worked out that, after taking away the 10% donation it’s costing each member just under 62p per day for 500 Club membership.

What I want to advise you of today is that for the next five years (that’s how long I have given myself to get all our websites fully functional and producing what I want them to produce), those that are subscribed at today’s rates will not incur an increase in subscription fees. It is my way of saying thank you for the support you are giving and have given, some of you for many years now.

Over the course of the next few months it is quite possible we’ll see a large number of new members coming on board. I genuinely want those that are on board as of 08/11/14 to know their support is genuinely appreciated and that is our way of saying thank you.

It is going to be a busy old day here and I’ll be at my desk for it’s entirety. If you e-mail me for anything, I’ll most likely get to it right away!

I have several I need to respond to that have arrived over the last couple of days, too….one regarding how the Ratings are arrived at. Apologies for not responding before now but I am still playing “catch up” after that weeks break.

PODCAST

Please do not forget, Sean and I will be doing the podcast every Friday during the NH season as we only have 24 hour decs to work with. Really looking forward to it and hopefully we’ll get a clean run at the winter game this time around!

Owen, thank you very much indeed for donating your winnings from the Competition to the Charity pot. That’s another £30 in there and it all helps a great deal.
