Whilst we are waiting for the new NH season to really kick into gear you should all be making a fortune off the work the guys over at The Goal Posts are putting together and last night Tony Davidson was in rare old form….again….maybe not so rare then!
He looks at a game of football in much the same way I do a horse race and doesn’t let loyalty colour his judgement.
This is what he posted with regards the games taking place in last nights Champions League:
“I have decided to look at tonight’s games because Liverpool are at home to Real Madrid tonight and I’m going. Do I expect us to win? No. I actually expect us to get a right old thumping but I have waited long enough for a game like this at Anfield and want to be there, win, lose or draw.
I won’t bet on this game because just being there will be enough but I would not put you off having a bet on us being beaten at half time/full time. We have been very poor defensively and played no team as good as the one we play tonight. Real Madrid have scored 7 in 2 CL games so far and I fear the worst.
They have also won their last 11 games scoring 32 goals so I expect a minimum of 3 from them tonight.
What I will be doing though is having a bet on Ludogorets to do us a favour against Basle. Very underrated and with Basel better at home than away in this competition I see the Swiss team going there for a draw and that might just leave them open to a sucker punch. Ludogorets are no way short of pace and frightened Liverpool to death on the counter attack.
They then gave Real Madrid a scare when taking the lead against them in the last round of games before losing 2-1 and if we say they have probably played the best two teams in this group then this gives them their best chance of getting 3 points.
The other games offer up a bet or two as well.
The layers make Benfica favourite to win at Monaco but I can see the french side getting at least a draw and would rather bet that result than the Portuguese side winning. They have lost both CL games so far and will be in panic mode tonight. Monaco sit 2nd in that group and a point will suit them just fine.
I think Juventus might be a false favourite tonight as well. They are only playing Olympiakos but I am not a fan of the Italian team. They are not scoring many and will have let a lot of weekend accas down last weekend. Could be they were saving themselves for tonight but so far they have only scored 2 goals in the 2 CL games to date and even if the Greeks have the worst defence in this group, they might just get away with a draw tonight.
I’ll be betting tonight
LUDOGORETS TO WIN – 1 POINT – 7/4 (Ladbrokes) – WON
MONACO TO DRAW – 1 POINT – 9/4 (Ladbrokes) – WON
OLYMPIAKOS TO DRAW – 1 POINT – 12/5 (Ladbrokes) – LOST
Quite simply, superb. His recent write up on the game between West Ham and QPR had one of our members suggesting he had a Tardis and has gone forward in time to watch the game before posting up his bets, so accurate was he.
I was happy enough with my figures yesterday, too. Things are coming together nicely and my own start date for betting again is November 8th….Badger Day at Wincanton.
Today though we have some very decent racing at Carlisle and Ludlow. Six races have been given the once over and my figures are below.
20 TO FOLLOW
One of the horses on my list of 20 to follow runs up at Carlisle today so I thought I had better get this posted in today’s Newsletter. I think he’s going to make a cracking good ‘chaser this time around.
URBAN HYMN runs in the 5-00 there and whilst this trip looks short on seasonal debut, he’s got slow ground and a stiff old track to help him.
He is a horse that it will pay to follow this season, I’m sure.
The other 19 go out tomorrow!
