Today’s Ratings and Advice 01/07/14

Ron RobinsonI received an e-mail from a longstanding 500 Club member yesterday morning, asking me if I could rate the races being run at Ffos Las because he was attending the meeting. I took some time out to do this and posted those figures up on Facebook (if you have not yet given our page a LIKE, just click on the link on the right of your Newsletter), and sent them over to him by e-mail.

They were races I myself wouldn’t play, or work on for Newsletter purposes, but by crikey they performed!

The first of them was the 7-15pm….

FFOS LAS 7-15

CAPTAIN SHARPE….-24 – 3RD 10/1
LUCKY DIVA….-31 – WON 7/1
WILLOW ISLAND….-40 – 2ND 20/1
MAGGIE ARON….-40
FUZZY LOGIC….-40
HALLINGS WISH….-40
ANOTHER JOURNEY….-40
WASABI….-40
BOGEY HOLE….-40

I was never going to advise playing this myself because it was an awful race in which none of the runners had ever won on the going as officially described and it was over a trip more suited to old ‘chasers but….the top three produced a tricast that paid 1398/1

A later one was actually “rubber stamped” by virtue of it being an OF INTEREST selection….so we were all on anyway (I hope!).

6 x 10p tricasts would have produced a profit of over £139 so when we have three sitting at the top of my numbers trading at such prices, it’s probably worth a speculative play because history shows these happen a couple of times at least per season and you would probably only have a handful of plays.

This is taken from the “Explained” section of the website that explains how I myself “works a race”
Doncaster 1-55 Friday 9th September 2011

BOURNE….+12 – 3RD 6/1
NANTON….+9 – 2ND 25/1
OLD HUNDRED….+8 – WON 16/1
THEOLOGY….-2
PRECISION BREAK….-3
ETERNAL HEART….-5

ADVICE – Long-ish distance affair so I will simply work with my top three, dutch, 20/80 BOURNE and combo exotics.

A perfect example of “Old School” from the days I simply used to rate a race, provide figures for my top six horses only and play the top three irrespective. Some still do exactly that and who can say any way of working is wrong?

FFOS LAS 7-45

DREAM IMPOSSIBLE….+12 – WON 9/2
ALBA VERDE….+12
§ – SWEET CHERRY….+8
§ – GREYEMKAY….-8
§ – FLIPPING….-18
* – KATMAI RIVER….-18
DELIGHTFUL SLEEP….-27
§ – MY NEW ANGEL….-28
DUTCHARTCOLLECTOR….-35
DEVOTE MYSELF….-39
FOILED….-40
ROCKINIT….-40

The “OF INTEREST” section did us proud yesterday, too. Four straight win advices producing two winners @ 5/1 and 9/2, a non-runner and one running home in third place.

A good day at the office, that is called.

If anyone is going racing and would like figures for races I have not looked at (please do not ask me to try to fathom amateur riders races, conditional jockey races, 2-y-o events, races of 3-y-o’s only), that I will normally only work on from August, please do.
