Extremely disappointing this has cut up to just eight runners and to see we’ve also lost Flintshire.
If stats mean anything the first thing we do is rule out anything aged three or, older than four…in fact, we only need to concentrate on four year olds.
Should have just said that in the first place!
They have won 10 of the last 12 runnings of this race and irrespective of how good the three year old crop has been each year, they’ve come up short when pitched in against their elders.
In the past it was simply a case of the favourite turning up and taking home a very nice prize but the last four runnings has seen this turned on it’s head. Three of the last four favourites have actually finished out of the first three.
Three of those four winners though were in the first four on the tissue.
So, effectively I’m looking for a four year old, in the front four on the tissue, excluding the favourite and only one horse fits the bill.
MAGICIAN – 20/80
I’m not quite sure about him as a true top class horse but I can say that about Telescope, too and he’s less than half the price I can get about the O’Brien trained runner.
Last time up he ran a cracker to be second to The Fugue. A length behind in third was last years Arc winner with this season’s Eclipse winner in fourth.
Rock solid form and I’m hoping my 20/80 pays a profitable dividend.
