AgaIn some “solid” decision making yesterday….my upping stumps on the NH season for punting purposes was brilliant, no? Two top rated winners from three rated races, a “near” BET OF THE DAY, romping home and I never had a bean on.
I’ll get over it.
HOW TO USE THE RATINGS
I had a reminder yesterday (thanks, Peter), regarding the piece I’m putting together regarding how to use the Ratings and I will have this finished before the flat season commences on May 1st….it will also be on a page on the website, too so you have a reference point that can be updated as and when members get in touch to tell me how they are making them work for them.
Believe me, I’ve some cracking e-mails advising me of ways I would never have thought of myself….and see below!
I have been getting some brilliant e-mails from members just recently, as results have gone our way once we got proper racing ground. These are just two of them from last weekend and thanks to the writers for giving me permission to use them.
Hope all is good. Just a quick mail to say well done and thank you for the ratings today. To explain how I read and worked them would take an eternity so I’ll just break down the bets I did…
Treble: Keeneland (a favourite of mine) 12/1, Petite Rose 12/1 and Roalco de Farges 9/2
E/w Singles: Keeneland 12/1, Petite Rose 12/1 and Overpriced 33/1
Win Single: Roalco de Farges
RFC Keeneland 12/1, Overpriced 33/1
Doubles: Keeneland & Petite Rose. Roalco & Petite Rose. Roalco & Keeneland
And an e/w treble on the “Of Interest” horses.
Maybe I was lucky to pick the right ones from your advice but I couldn’t have done it alone. Lets just say that my “bank manager” is a happy woman tonight:D
Can’t wait for the flat season with you. Thanks again for a great service.
Very best regards,
I went through your ratings once again on Saturday, it’s my w/end treat. Picked 3 top rated that were also fancied e/w in the Daily Mirror and put them in a Patent. Keeneland- Roalco De Farges and Douchkirk. In that race Osgood was screaming at me because of the * but I stuck with the Mirror….needless to say, I hit the bar but I thought it was close enough to press the DONATE button as a thank you.
Love using the ratings to go along with what I also like the look of. Have a tickle today in the same manner, hope I can donate again on Monday!
Cheers, keep up the good work.
Thanks for the kind words, guys!
It’s an incredibly busy day for me so I’m going to crack on with getting these nine rated races up for you to tinker with.
NEWCASTLE – Jump (Updated:27/03/2014 at 16:03:36)
SOFT, Heavy in pls
Hurdles re-sited and rails will be on best ground available.
14mm of rain this pm (19mm in last 24hrs).
Could see further showers this eve (2-4mm).
Temps between 7-9c. Set dry from 3pm till after racing.
Some areas of standing water (should soak away overnight)
but rail will be moved in morning if necessary to ensure
best possible ground.
WETHERBY – Jump (Updated:27/03/2014 at 07:44:54)
Good, Good to Soft in places
(GoingStick: 7.3 Chase; 7.5 Hurdle on Thursday at 07:30)
2mm rain on Thursday. 3mm rain over the weekend. 2mm rain
Monday night. 1mm rain on Tuesday. Wednesday was a dry day,
but we had 2mm rain during the evening and overnight into
Bright start on Thursday, but the forecast is for more rain
to move from lunchtime, with heavy showers expected during
the evening / night into Friday, with a possibility of up
to 10mm in next 24 hours, which will obviously ease the
Chance of a light shower or two during Friday too.
*INDICATES HORSES HAVING WON PREVIOUSLY ON THE GOING AS CURRENTLY DESCRIBED ABOVE
FORCE OF HABIT….-10
SNOOZE YOU LOSE….-40
ADVICE – As you know I commence prepping my figures the day before racing and finalise everything at 5-00am on the day itself. Since putting this lot together the rains have fallen and this track has gone heavy in places, Hopefully it’s nothing of consequence but you have been warned!
FIRST OF NEVER….-31
FOOT THE BILL….-39
ADVICE – If my top one handles conditions he probably wins but who wants to be taking odds on in a handicap? They are getting him out quickly as he’s gone up 23lb for having obliterated a field at Kelso and as I say, he should win pulling that same cart.
*YOU KNOW YOURSELF….+8
ADVICE – Good little race is this. If i were betting it’s be my top pair against the rest but as I’m not, it isn’t!
*BYGONES OF BRID….+12
*ACT OF KALANISI….-15
ADVICE – Much will depend on my top one getting the lead here. Competitive if he does, not if he doesn’t. Satanic Beat is still unexposed over hurdles and if he does handle conditions…won on soft over a mile on the flat….he’s “interesting” but, he does seem to have the profile of a horse that likes it a bit quicker.
TROUBLE IN PARIS….-40
ADVICE – Not a race I’d be overly indulging in, even if I were to indulge. Probably my top one with that pair marked * but only to October Rules.
ADVICE – If Diane sayer can get my top one back to the form he had when with James Ewart and if he improves for the step up in trip and better ground, then he might provide those playing with a profit off a 20/80 but that’s a few “if’s” to many for my liking and I’d abstain even if I wasn’t abstaining.
LUA DE ITAPOAN….-25
ADVICE – I think i’d just be looking at my top rated here for a bit of a 20/80. They are dropping him back in trip today after he failed to get home over three miles last time up but to me he looks more of a chaser and my guess is that’s what we’ll be seeing him doing next year.
*ROC DE GUYE….+/-0
*BE MY DEPUTY….-18
ADVICE – How funky…the only horse in the field with no winning form on the going as described when prepping, is tissue favourite. Not out of the first three in all starts over fences to date, first time visor, jockey having ridden four winners from the 16 rides for the yard here…he’s got to be of interest. You know what I’d be doing if I was doing anything though and if he wins, I’d be losing.
ROCK A DOODLE DOO….-40
ADVICE – Not a great race to finish off with but rated horses 1, 2 and 5 would be on my radar.
Have a brilliant day and the very best of luck.
