I had e-mails, texts and a couple of tweets from people asking me if the member that was using those horses marked * had punted that 50/1 winner yesterday (paid 110 BFSP) and John, I e-mailed you asking on their behalf….if I do not hear from you I’ll assume you did and got the first flight out!
I turned my TV on yesterday for racing at Taunton, to hear the ATR commentator describe the track as the most saturated he had ever walked before racing. I watched the first race run at a crawl on ground simply not suitable and then listened to the Timeform Radio co-host describe the time as “the slowest I have ever recorded for a three mile hurdle race”. I guess at that point you did one of two things….walked away (that was me), or you worked with horses proven on slop marked *….not that it would have been a definitive marker because I doubt the three in the race I speak of had won on ground quite that bad. Two of the three came home 1st and 3rd though so I guess it’s better than nothing.
Those members that have opted to play horses rated -40 under certain circumstances had a 33/1 winner.
Like I keep saying, it’s how you use the information you receive from me that counts, not what I or anybody else is doing.
When we see the distances recored between 1st and 3rd as 79 lengths, as was the case in an earlier race at Taunton yesterday, would you carry that form forward as being worth a carrot at a later date? Me neither.
Today we do Doncaster and Ludlow. Only one rated race from Doncaster (I do not get involved in “novelty” races and that’s how I perceive that race created for horses of double figure age), and three from Ludlow, which will be heavy ground, soft in places but, that’s acceptable and I’ll look at how things pan out earlier before making a decision as to whether to open my wallet.

THREE TO DUTCH – SHAKALAKABOOMBOOM, KAYSERSBERG, MATTHEW RILEY
20/80 – KAYSERSBERG
EXOTICS – SHAKALAKABOOMBOOM, KAYERSERSBERG, MATTHEW RILEY
LAY – NONE
ADVICE – This is most likely a prep race for the National for my top rated and for that reason I’m happy to have him in my dutch and exotics but my 20/80 goes the way of Kaysersberg, who won over CD just 26 days ago and did so nicely, too. Top three marked * look good to go and I’ll work with them.
