No more faffing, we start for real today and Wetherby offers us some seriously good racing to work with. Uttoxeter is the chalk to Wetherby’s cheese and with very few having proved they handle the going conditions they will find there and with it still very much early season, caution is advised if you are betting there.
I’m going to crack straight on as we have much to do at this end before we head north to meet James and Briony Ewart on Monday morning.
*BEAT THE SHOWER….-20
THREE TO DUTCH – SHADOWS LENGTHEN, TIDAL WAY, TINSELTOWN
20/80 – TIDAL WAY
EXOTICS – SHADOWS LENGTHEN, TIDAL WAY, TINSELTOWN
LAY – NONE
ADVICE – My top three, in what looks a pretty tight handicap, have all achieved wins on the going they will face this afternoon and they get the gig here. I myself has opted to play my second highest rated 20/80, because my top rated generally needs a run or two to come to the boil and my feeling is this is probably a pipe opener before he goes back over fences. He is actually entered for the handicap chase here tomorrow and his form over fences is superior to that over the smaller obstacles.
*DUKE OF LUCCA….-6
THREE TO DUTCH – MAC AEDA, NOBLE LEGEND, MON PARRAIN
20/80 – MAC AEDA
EXOTICS – MAC AEDA, NOBLE LEGEND, MON PARRAIN
LAY – CANTLOW
ADVICE – What a cracking good race to welcome us back. My top five have everything spot on but my top one winked at me as soon as I looked at it. Form figures here of 312144 so we know he loves the Yorkshire air. I’m a huge fan of CANTLOW but he rates lowly here. I had him down as one to work with at Cheltenham but he was taken out on the day and subsequently failed at Aintree. Tony McCoy has obviously flown over to Ireland to ride Jezki but they have a decent sub in Gerraghty! It’s dangerous to be laying anything just yet, especially one currently trading 6.8 and it’s more one I’d monitor for now.
BORIS THE BLADE….-20
THREE TO DUTCH – PALOS CONTI, POLARBROOK, ACRAI RUA
20/80 – PALOS CONTI
EXOTICS – PALOS CONTI, POLARBROOK, ACRAI RUA
LAY – ORANGE NASSAU
ADVICE – In a months time I would have no problem laying this tissue favourite but laying one of Longsdon’s at this point in the season is akin to playing Russian roulette. We do not need to do that just yet. I’ll punt as indicated though and see if I can get something from it.
MY NOSY ROSY….-32
LOST IN NEW YORK….-40
ADVICE – A race not for the faint hearted. Only one has previous winning form on soft and that came at Fakenham in May last year. Both her wins to date (in sellers), have come at that Norfolk track and it’s not one I’d trust. Fact is it’s a race choc full of moose and if you opt to punt, I salute you.
ADVICE – Again not a race I’m overly keen on for punting purposes myself. My third highest rated is probably the best 20/80 option simply by virtue of having won over this trip and on this ground, something not so far achieved by anything else in the field. Consistent enough and wins in his turn and if I bet, that’ll be the only play here.
*MARIE DES ANGES….+10
RING BO REE….-17
ADVICE – Difficult to get a figure for FOREST WALKER because all form to date has come in the pointing field but I’m happy with my numbers regarding my top one and I will just set up a straight win play MARIE DES ANGES, and look at an exotic using CAMDEN GEORGE….probably stick to the single for this afternoon, though.
CENTASIA (Uttoexter 1-20) – straight win
PRESENTING PRICILA (Uttoxeter 4-05) – 20/80
AINSI FIDELES (Wetherby 2-45) – straight win
That will suffice for today.
Best of luck if you get involved and have a great day
