Father Jack has been backed many times before but it was last time everything fell into place and Bryan Cooper who got a good race out of this horse last time out, is on board again.
Father Jack has been pretty well fancied every time he has run since he ran fourth to Un De Seaux in February, even if he was beaten a mile. If Ron is right about that one perhaps being a future Champion Hurdler then there was no disgrace there.
They have messed about with the trip, too and he raced between 2 ½ miles and 3 miles n the seven races since that defeat and he won easily over 2 ½ miles on soft ground at Fairyhouse a couple of weeks ago. He goes up to 3 miles again today but the ground will probably not be as slow so that should give him a good chance of getting the trip.
Over the 20 furlongs last time he finished strongly and whilst it was an ordinary race, so is this. Plenty of dead wood and six of them are still looking for their first win. Those that have won would seem to need quicker or slower ground and I’m hoping a combination of jockey, track and the fact the penny has dropped sees us winners again.
