National Hunt fun awaits, and a rant about journos who don’t even watch the action?

ViztoriaWell I will start with the racing but it’s the football that has my blood boiling this afternoon/evening. First things first, and I am positive that St Leger winner Leading Light will have a bright if not so valuable future as a National Hunt sire. Only rated 110 before the race and already a winner over two miles he is another example of the way the race has been going downhill in recent years and I can almost guarantee his next race will be a drop back to a mile and a half as they look to salvage something in the way of breeding potential? Earlier on the card there was a decent sized gamble on Viztoria (left). which should have told us the ground was pretty holding. I did mention her in the podcast as a serious option but we were not so sure about the ground but she won this with a bit in hand according to her connections and given a heavy surface, she could well step up again in grade.

Back to the football and as an Everton supporter I do wonder what we have to do to get any credit? We played well against an expensively assembled Chelsea side and in my opinion deserved what we got, but if you read the “neutral” press you will see that we were outplayed, outthought, outfought and as lucky as can be to have not been soundly spanked! I admit to my own bias but will round up by reminding you that they had four players booked – we had none, and that if you read the Chelsea site reviews they are honest enough to suggest we were narrowly the better team – perhaps their writers actually watched the game….?
