Nothing like as busy today, which is nice. Yesterday was manic here. Office rearranging, new shelving to put up and I missed the afternoon racing sweating over a hot Black and Decker!
I enjoyed the meeting from Bath though and managed to scramble a profit from that meeting, a nice straight CSF/Exacta landed in the “lucky last”.

§ indicates horses perceived as being best drawn.
*KEEP IT COOL….+9
ADVICE – None of these are what you would call trustworthy. They win in their turn (some of them), and for me it’s simply a case of, do I trust my figures or, don’t I….I will….but only to October Rules!
*WEST LEAKE HARE….+10
*OUR BOY JACK….+8
§KUNG HEI FAT CHOY….-11
STEEL STOCK HOLDER….-22
THREE TO DUTCH – SMALLJOHN, WEST LEAKE HARE, BERLUSCA
20/80 – SMALLJOHN
EXOTICS – SMALLJOHN, WEST LEAKE HARE, BERLUSCA
LAY – OUR BOY JACK
PERCEIVED DRAW BIAS – Low much preferred
ADVICE – I have just one horse in my top six having both draw and ground requirements met…my top one. BERLUSCA is well drawn and if he handles this turf (all wins to date on sand, his only placing on turf, ever, coming on good to firm), then he should be competitive. WEST LEAKE HARE comes into my dutch because he looks best of those poorly drawn with winning form on today’s ground.
*LIGHT THE CITY….+10
*HEART OF DUBAI….-16
THREE TO DUTCH – LIGHT THE CITY, EIJAAZ, JEER
20/80 – LIGHT THE CITY
EXOTICS – LIGHT THE CITY, EIJAAZ, JEER
LAY – NONE
PERCEIVED DRAW BIAS – Low/middle preferred to high.
ADVICE – My top rated will not enjoy the quick ground…those punting the top rated horse have been warned! He has tried four times thus far to race on it and is unplaced all starts on turf, full stop. I will work with the two marked §* in my top six, plus the highest rated horse having won previously on good to firm.
My own staking will reflect the fact it’s a Class 6 race being run over a trip at which four of the field has succeeded previously….three of which are in my dutch.
HAZZA THE JAZZA….-35
ADVICE – It’s awful racing here tonight. I have five rated races containing a total of 51 runners of which only 11 havs won previously on good to firm ground. Most want to feel sand between their toes. If you decide to play please bear that in mind.
Here it’ll simply be a case of October Rules. If this terminology is new to you please click here.
*HONEY OF A KITTEN….-6
BOOM TO BUST….-30
ADVICE – My bottom rated horse has just three runs on the board, is running for a yard currently out of form but trades odds on. My top rated ran two days ago, my second highest rated ran yesterday and the rest are moose. A race I will simply stand back and watch.
ADVICE – I fully expect this meeting tonight to knock a hole in my July stats! I’ll just dutch the pair proven on the ground, to buttons….maybe a shekel thrown at a 20/80 FILATORE.
ADVICE – Lady Cecil trains my bottom rated horse and this one is making it’s handicap debut after having been gelded. It will quite possibly win head in chest but with my having no way of rating it properly, it’s another no bet race for me.
ADVICE – Top two dutch and head under the duvet. Bog awful way to end a days punting!
LEGAL BOND (Catterick 4-30) – 20/80
No bet or lay of the day today!!
Have a great day and the very best of luck if you get involved….but you know it’s bad racing when a summer jumps meeting sits middle pages of the Racing Post!
