Today was simply outstanding with the very first Bet of the Day, the David O’Meara trained MONT RAS, given a more than glowing reference before leading from start to finish, landing a touch for Post Racing members in the process.
MONT RAS was top rated in the only rated race at Redcar but members also received six rated races from Chepstow sent out and to say the figures performed would be like saying a Rolls Royce is quite a nice car!
These were the figures and advices issued to members today:
*MONT RAS….+9 – WON 9/4
*MY SINGLE MALT….-26
THREE TO DUTCH – MONT RAS, JESSIE’S SPIRIT, SUMMERINTHECITY
20/80 – MONT RAS
EXOTICS – MONT RAS, JESSIE’S SPIRIT, SUMMERINTHECITY
LAY – NONE
ADVICE – I’m not in a position to ask David if my figures are right because he is currently in Hong Kong. With no draw bias to concern me I’ll just trust in the numbers because my top three are all good to go on the ground as currently described and they are clear of the rest. Two of them front the tissue and whilst JESSIE’S SPIRIT has a Lucan-like absence to overcome she is priced to reflect that and ridden by a guy that is handy enough around here plus, is 1-2 with rides for the Duffield stable. I do, however, expect the winner to be one of the other pair.
RESULT – A terrific start to the day!
*DASHWOOD….+15 – WON 7/1
THREE TO DUTCH – DASHWOOD, GEORGE BENJAMIN, FAIRY WING
20/80 – DASHWOOD
EXOTICS – DASHWOOD, GEORGE BENJAMIN, FAIRY WING
LAY – MACDONALD MOR – LAST
ADVICE – LADY BAYSIDE loves this place and her rating is justified. I myself will be working with the three highest rated horses having winning form on genuine good ground. However, if it were to get quicker then it would be my top three for all bets. I’ll keep the shekels banked until I am 100% happy I know what they are racing on. However, I will have a pop at laying the tissue favourite at 4.5 or shorter.
RESULT – A lovely top rated winner and the first lay of the new season stone cold last.
*HIGHLIFE DANCER….+11 – NR
*BOLD CROSS….+9 – 4TH 8/1
STAG HILL….+8 – 2ND 9/2
*APRIL CIEL….+7 – WON 6/1
*JAMES POLLARD….+4 – 3RD 10/1
*SIX SILVER LANE….+2 – NR
THREE TO DUTCH – HIGHLIFE DANCER, JAMES POLLARD, SIX SILVER LANE
20/80 – HIGHLIFE DANCER
EXOTICS – HIGHLIFE DANCER, JAMES POLLARD, SIX SILVER LANE
LAY – MOUNTAIN RANGE
PERCEIVED DRAW BIAS – MIDDLE FAVOURED SLIGHTLY OVER HIGH WITH LOW JUST OFF THEM. NOT A LOT IN IT BUT ENOUGH TO HAVE ME USING IT.
ADVICE – It’s a Class 6, choc full of horses that will struggle to win even in thus lowly grade. All I’m doing is punting those I believe have the best of the draw, in my top six, all proven on good ground. Stakes will reflect the quality of the beast I’m punting!
RESULT – The “top four” rated horses are the first four home. I myself played the three marked * and so missed the trifecta but happy to land a profit from my dutch….even happier with how my figures performed.
*JEWELLED DAGGER….+3 – WON 12/1
ON STAGE….-9 – NR
THREE TO DUTCH – JEWELLED DAGGER, DESCARO, CHAPTER NINE
20/80 – JEWELLED DAGGER
EXOTICS – JEWELLED DAGGER, DESCARO, CHAPTER NINE
LAY – NONE
ADVICE – Worse than that previous race. Same methodology regarding my own selections for my dutch but staking here will hardly register.
RESULT – Another superb top rated winner, even if it was played to peanuts.
*FROZEN OVER….+11 – 3RD
*HAIL PROMENADER….+10 – 2ND
DERFENNA ART….-7 – 5TH
THE MONGOOSE….-16 – 7TH
STANDING STRONG….-23 – 4TH
SHARP AND SMART….-25 – WON
LOYAL N TRUSTED….-29
SPIRIT OF GONDREE….-30
HAMIS AL BIN….-40
THREE TO DUTCH – FROZEN OVER, HAIL PROMENADER, DERFENNA ART
20/80 – FROZEN OVER
EXOTICS – FROZEN OVER, HAIL PROMENADER, DEFENNA ART
LAY – NONE
PERCEIVED DRAW BIAS – LOW DRAWN HAVE A DEFINITE ADVANTAGE OVER HIGH WITH MIDDLE STRUGGLING
ADVICE – Despite my having spotted up what looks a swing in favour of low drawn horses in this one, I’m not convinced anything drawn low is good enough to take advantage of it. I will put more faith in my figures and punt as indicated.
RESULT – Seriously happy with how my figures performed even if I didn’t get a penny out of it. My top six rated in the first seven past the winning post….superb accuracy.
TOOLEY WOODS….-2 – WON 8/1
THE WHICH DOCTOR….-20
MAN OF MY WORD….-30
CHEERS BIG EARS….-36
THREE TO DUTCH – FLAXEN LAKE, PEAK STORM, MARIE’S FANTASY
20/80 – FLAXEN LAKE
EXOTICS – FLAXEN LAKE, PEAK STORM, MARIE’S FANTASY
LAY – RUTTERKIN – 6TH 5/1F
PERCEIVED DRAW BIAS – HIGH DRAWN BEST, MIDDLE JUST OFF ‘EM WITH LOW ON THEIR COAT TAILS.
ADVICE – Utterly horrendous race. Most of these must have been worried when it was first announced horse had been found masquerading as beef in certain products! I’m punting those in my top six best drawn to October Rules levels of staking.
RESULT – The winner in my top three…not a bean back but again delighted with my numbers.
*DARK LANE….-11 – WON 7/1
THREE TO DUTCH – CHARMING, FALASTEEN, DARK LANE
20/80 – CHARMING
EXOTICS – CHARMING, FALASTEEN, DARK LANE
LAY – NONE
PERCEIVED DRAW BIAS – LOW/MIDDLE MUCH OF A MUCHNESS BUT I DO NOT FANCY A HIGH DRAW IN THIS ONE.
ADVICE – The three selected for my own bets look as solid as you can look in a Class 5 and I’m hopeful of a good end to the evening….well, ish.
RESULT – Dutch and profits secured and a wonderful end to a wonderful day of punting.
MR DANDY MAN (Chepstow 5-05) – 20/80
LAY OF THE DAY
To qualify as a Lay of the Day a horse has to be currently trading as a tissue favourite, outside my top six rated, poorly drawn (in my opinion), and have a marked preference for going in the opposite direction to that it runs on the day in question.
MOUNTAIN RANGE has Fallon booked to ride but to date has shown a need for slightly slower ground than he’ll get tonight. He is also much better going right handed, just one placing from seven attempts going left, as opposed to three wins and a placing from 14 attempts going right handed. His draw could be better…but could also be worse, high being better than low….if I’m reading this correctly. All things considered I will lay him at 5 or shorter and he appears to be my Lay of the Day.- NR
BET OF THE DAY
Here I am looking to find one horse that will secure us a profit. It will not always be a straight win selection…it could be a 20/80 or a place only play, the intention being to simply obtain that profit.
The same criteria will apply as that used for laying but, obviously, in the affirmative. However, I will be adding things such as trip into the mix….the horse named will have to be proven over the distance it races “today”.
MONT RAS (Redcar 3-30) – 20/80 – he has not won for a fair old while now but last season the ground was always going to be against him. He runs well fresh, a third in the Spring Mile off the back of and eight month absence last year proof of that and, if you need more, he also won his maiden following the best part of a year away. His form on quicker ground reads 0211 – he’s my Bet of the Day. – WON 9/4
