It’s a serious question….not a statement. I produce these figures every single day and even I am sometimes stunned at their accuracy and in all honesty, if someone is producing more accurate figures then I would genuinely like to meet him/her and bring them on board the good ship Post Racing….if they would like to join us, of course.
I generally take the month of April to fine tune my work, get a proper feel for what is to come and from May 1st advise my members we are ready to get to work.
However, it really does seem like no tweaking or fine tuning will be need if the last three days are anything to go by.
The way I work is more closely guarded than Fort Knox but once I have produced my figures I then work purely with my top six, taking into account several factors such as going, draw, trip, etc etc etc….but when we find no draw bias and everything else (especially going conditions), suit the horses I want to work with then we simply work as suggested. This would generally be a top three dutch, a 20/80 my top rated and exotics. The idea is my dutch, if successful, covers any other plays I’m considering and produces a profit. I have a section on my website that amply demonstrates this.
These were today’s figures and results, which were, if I may say so myself, stunning:
* indicates horses having won previously on the going as currently described
*DA’QUONDE….+8 – 2ND 4/1
*FOREIGN RHYTHM….-10 – WON 15/2
PHOENIX CLUBS….-18 – 3RD 5/1
TRUST FUND BABE….-38
RESULT – Perfect. The dutch would have been secured, the “80” off the top rated 20/80 and a very decent 36/1 CSF with a 29/1 exacta. The first three home were in my top four rated and I have to be delighted by that.
*DUBARA REEF….+2 – 3RD 6/1
*ZAPLAMATION….-2 – WON 7/2
*HARVEY’S HOPE….-11 – 2ND 9/4
DAY OF DESTINY….-26
QUEEN OF EPIRUS….-40
RESULT – My top three were the first three past the post and all bets would have been landed. A 69/1 trifecta was not to be sniffed at, either.
*GALA CASINO STAR….+15
*FIELDGUNNER KIRKUP….+9 – WON 11/4
ADVICE – Best flat race of the day by the distance it is being run over! Two of my top three front the morning tissue and I would suggest the tissue is spot on. I will dutch DOS AMIGOS and FIELDGUNNER KIRKUP, have my 20/80 on the last named and play an exotic. Strictly on weights CLASSIC COLORI should reverse form with my 20/80 pick but with that run under his belt I’m more than happy to stick with the Barron runner.
RESULT – As you can see from the text attached to the race, this was a race I actually punted and it produced a very nice profit on the day.
*BOUCHER GARCON….-4 – 2ND 10/1
*CAPTAIN SCOOBY….-11 – WON 15/2
M J WOODWARD….-19
IRISH GIRLS SPIRIT….-32
ADVICE – I am thinking a middle box is best here and with the ground right I’m going to have a 20/80 BOUCHER GARCON. He will, hopefully, absolutely blitz the lids and it’ll be a case of catch me if you can….some might but, not all of them! The place portion will produce a profit and as he goes well fresh (he did last season!), he has more plusses than minuses. Small staking, obviously because I’m well aware of the date and if I’m wrong it’ll be fool with a small f.
RESULT – Thankfully no fool and it was only in the final strides my win portion was lost. It’s one thing to handicap a race and another to then decipher those figures. Another very nice profit secured.
*AZREAL….-11 – WON 5/2
RESULT – The only horse in the race with previous winning form on the going as officially described and, it won.
SPIN AGAIN….+9 – 5th 7/2
*OLNEY LASS….+8 – WON 20/1
*ZAHEEB….+8 – 2ND 13/2
ONE KOOL DUDE….+8
KHAJAALY….-9 – 3RD 16/1
THE NOBLE ORD….-24
BACK FOR TEA….-40
ADVICE – If I am reading this correctly then I expect middle drawn to just prove better than low, with high having work to do. My top rated is not then drawn where I would want him and I also see genuine good ground a negative. He is essentially a sand dancer who would prefer a little less give in the ground on turf. The plusses are he’s fit and is a previous CD winner. If I do feel inclined to bet it’ll be a 20/80 ZAHEEB but to absolute buttons.
RESULT – Readers were told my top rated would struggle, had the winner and runner up in my top three, both being the only horses in my top six having obtained the * indicator and had this been May 1st I would have enjoyed a 142/1 CSF, a 136/1 Exacta, my dutch and, I would have been on the winner 20/80 because I would have simply trusted my figures. At this stage of the season I was still happy enough to extract a profit from such a race.
*TRANSFER….-7 – 3RD 25/1
*BROWN PETE….-17 – 2ND 9/2
THE GREAT GABRIAL….-23
THE DUCKING STOOL….-33
BIG CITY BOY….-40
RESULT – Again extremely happy with my handicapping as two of my top three finished in the frame, the runner up beaten a head.
DIVINE CALL….+10 – 2ND 5/1
ONE WAY OR ANOTHER….-5
*ROYAL REYAH….-9 – WON 9/2
RESULT – Im May the winner would have been in my dutch along with RIGOLLETO and MICK SLATES so, a profit would have been produced. Again very happy with my figures and everything looks set for a great summer.
*DUKE OF CLARENCE….-8
ADVICE – My top rated last ran in the Triumph Hurdle! This has the feeling of a race “all over the place”….not for getting seriously involved in but I might just dutch rated horses 1 & 3.
RESULT – This race had a smell about it, as my comments suggested and it would quite probably not have warranted a play…even in May!

EXOTIC GUEST (Yarmouth 4-10) – 20/80
