We are incredibly busy here at the moment but it’s an absolute pleasure doing it all. Yesterday Paul received the paperwork from David’s office regarding Rosie and the deal is now done. Today we will be arranging a time and date for a vet to visit Rebecca’s yard to give the horse we hope to purchase for 500 Club members, a full inspection and by the end of this week we hope to have, on the website, a page for each of the five horses you now have an interest in….well, let’s call it four and a half now, as the Herons Island is just an “interest” until paperwork has been sorted out and a cheque written.
The results went well yesterday, too! I cannot say I was sorry to see Warwick go but with proper jumping ground having been catered for at Hexham, I had no qualms about punting there and we got a result from all three rated races. LEAC AN SCAIL provided us with a profit off the dutch in the 2-10, we got the lay beaten in the 2-40 and the only horse I was looking to have a serious bet on at any point in the day, RUPERT BEAR, absolutely hosed up @ 3/1. I know many of you had hearts in mouth at one point, as this one was held up way off the pace in last place. Ridden to play in running?
The Post Racing 20 to follow also provided you with yet another very easy winner. Not many go off @ 6/4 and win by 35 lengths but DEFY LOGIC did just that at Fairyhouse and he could have won by half the track had his pilot wished him to do so. I know a few of you doubled up this one with RUPERT BEAR and that looks a good decision made now, doesn’t it!
It looks like this awful weather we endured throughout the summer is still going to cause us problems and two of today’s meetings have been washed away. The sole survivor, Market Rasen, provides me with just one race for rating….and they have an inspection at 8-00am, too.
MARKET RASEN 2-40
AROUND A POUND….+8*
ULIS DE VASSY….+1
RED HOT POKER….+/-0*
FLEMI TWO TOES….-20
THREE TO DUTCH – MARKADAM, AROUND A POUND, RED HOT POKER
20/80 – MARKADAM
EXOTICS – MARKADAM, AROUND A POUND, RED HOT POKER
LAY – LIKEAROLLINGSTONE
ADVICE – The going is forecast soft and just three horses taking part have winning form on it – I have marked them with an * and needless to say they make up my play, in what is actually a competitive looking little race. A couple have won on ground worse than soft and if it rode heavy then we would need to double check things.
Rosie e-mailed me last night to say she has started her own Facebook page and also has plans to get involved in Tweeting, too. You can visit her page and give her a “Like” here
On her page she will keep us updated on her daily routine, let us know when her training is being adjusted, her thoughts on what is going on in the yard and all about her days at the races as The Charity Horse. Spread the word, tell all of your friends about her and let’s see if we cannot establish a fan club for her!
I guess I’ll have time to get a few things done today. Most of the racing is just for watching and you will be able to have a read of Sean Trivass’s thoughts on the week gone and the weekend ahead. This should be on the site early morning. I know he has a feeling for another big priced one but as he will doubtless be explaining himself, we’d be nuts to expect a 33/1 shot every week.
I myself will be working on a couple of things that will go up on the site over the next 24 hours and hopefully a clue or two there, too.
Have a great day and best of luck if you play that lone race!
