When you have a day like Saturday and you make the excuses (provide an explanation), for what happened, it is then very much beholden upon me to provide you with something when no such excuse exists next day.
Yesterday we had the going remain as described and the Ratings delivered in absolute spades.
I generally do well at Cheltenham and the lone rated race on Friday produced a lovely 7/1 top rated winner. Even though we lost the ground on Saturday, my figures still produced the winner of the Paddy Power Gold Cup and got Grands Crus beaten. Yesterday saw the figures provide us all with a lovely 14/1 top rated winner when DOUBLE ROSS belted in by eight lengths. I was not really worried about CASH AND GO being beaten into second place in the 2-50 (it really would have been greedy, wouldn’t it?) because shortly after 1-30pm every member achieved a result (I hope), that pays for Christmas.
ROMEO AMERICO….+2 – WON 20/1
DOLATULO….-1 – 2ND 15/2
KAMBIS….-10 – 3RD 14/1
LOOK FOR LOVE….-28
SPARROWHILLS….-30THREE TO DUTCH – ROMEO AMERICO, DOLATULO, SIRCOZY
20/80 – ROMEO AMERICO
EXOTICS – ROMEO AMERICO, DOLATULO, SIRCOZY
LAY – NONE
ADVICE – Very competitive little race and should be a goodun to watch. I am happy with my figures, my top three are all winners on good to soft and I seen no reason to go chasing shadows.
RESULT – A fantastic top rated winner, a terrific 147/1 CSF and can you imagine what that tricast would have paid had SIRCOZY been good enough to finish third? The ratings were quite simply bang on the money, the top four rated all performing as the numbers suggested but had they fallen in the right order then all membership fees would have been covered to a 60p layout on combo tricasts. Close, very close.
Today we are off to deepest Wales to see a horse, trained by Rebecca Curtis. If we make the purchase (and it will only be after we have employed the services of a vet to give it a full AA inspection), then 500 Club members will be able to take part in the naming of him. Get your thinking caps on….he is by Heron Island out of Soul Lady. It should not be at all difficult giving this one a suitable name but we’ll run a competition to find it.
I also hope to bring you news of a horse we feel might do a job for the charities. The idea is we buy a very cheap but sound horse, to run for them. All prize money achieved plus the proceeds of the future sale will be divided equally between the four charities we currently support. It will run in the name of The Charity Horse and hopefully all members, be they 500 Club or Site, will come along when it races, to support us.
Things are progressing very nicely now and for sure, they will only get better.
This afternoon I have just four races for you to work with. Two are run at Leicester, a track I do not like because they do not provide the same ground all over the track. Today, for instance, the going on the chase track is described as good, good to firm in places, soft on the flat track crossings. That’s a nonsense. The hurdles track is soft, good to soft in places.

THREE TO DUTCH – WHERRIMON, HEVER ROAD, NOBLE WITNESS
20/80 – WHERRIMON
EXOTICS – WHERRIMON, HEVER ROAD, NOBLE WITNESS
LAY – NONE
ADVICE – You take very much on trust that my top rated will turn up mentally. If he does, he’ll be competitive, if he doesn’t, he will not complete the race. In the past though this has been the place he does fancy it, two CD wins to his name so, I’ll trust to my figures and we’ll see what happens.
PRET A THOU….+9
THREE TO DUTCH – MINSKY MINE, OPEN DAY, GETTING READY
20/80 – GETTING READY
EXOTICS – MINSKY MINE, OPEN DAY, GETTING READY
LAY – NONE
ADVICE – I will go with what i have but my 20/80 goes to my third best because he already has a win on soft….if it is soft. Low staking here today simply because of those going descriptions. Like a patchwork quilt, it is.
TWO TO DUTCH – LORD SINGER, CHASERS CHANCE
20/80 – LORD SINGER
EXOTICS – LORD SINGER, CHASERS CHANCE
LAY – NONE
ADVICE – Good to soft, soft in places….all over. No ambiguity here. My top two should give us a decent run for our money and hopefully a profit.
ON THE FEATHER….-18
THREE TO DUTCH – PETIT ECUYER, AIREDALE LAD, EDE’S
20/80 – PETIT ECUYER
EXOTICS – PETIT ECUYER, AIREDALE LAD, EDE’S
LAY – NONE
ADVICE – This would never be a race you would be looking at to produce much of anything to be honest. I’m simply going to work with my figures, to low stakes, and I will hopefully cover the diesel for today.
A little beauty thrown in this section yesterday. All things considered, that was an amazing price for what is a very exciting horse for this saeason.
TURN OVER SIVOLA (Plumpton 12-50) – straight win
BROADBACKBOB (Plumpton 1-20) – straight win
MADEIRA GIRL (Leicester 12-40) – 20/80
ROWLESTONE LAD (Leicester 1-40) – straight win
RUM AND BUTTER (Leicester 3-40) – 20/80
Have a great day and best of luck if you get involved. I will try to put together a report, with pictures, of our visit to Rebeccas’s today and hopefully good news on the purchasing front.
